<div>Ian Henderson works as the PULSE Project Director for Savant Ltd who are based in South Cumbria.</div>
</li>
<li>
<div>PULSE is the core IT system for the National Blood Service and Savant are responsible for the support and development of the system.</div>
</li>
<li>
<div>In his position as system designer, Ian believes that we have gone past the limits of barcode technology. Current labelling standards, which are based upon the use of multiple barcodes mean automatic handling and reconciliation procedures cannot be introduced to any extent.</div>
</li>
<li>
<div>RFID technology appears to offer major advantages for blood pack handling and has the potential to reduce some of the consuming reconciliation procedures.</div>
</li>
<li>
<div>Ian is a member of the international ISBT128 RFID Task Force who are currently assessing the potential of RFID technology within the blood supply chain.</div>

<div>PULSE is the core IT system for the National Blood Service and Savant are responsible for the support and development of the system.</div>

<div>In his position as system designer, Ian believes that we have gone past the limits of barcode technology. Current labelling standards, which are based upon the use of multiple barcodes mean automatic handling and reconciliation procedures cannot be introduced to any extent.</div>
</li>
<li>
<div>RFID technology appears to offer major advantages for blood pack handling and has the potential to reduce some of the consuming reconciliation procedures.</div>

<li>
<div>Ian is a member of the international ISBT128 RFID Task Force who are currently assessing the potential of RFID technology within the blood supply chain.</div>
